INTRODUCTION TO MONTESSORI - A PROGRAM FOR TWO YEAR OLDS

The first few years of your child's life are a crucial period in the development of personality and intellect during which learning takes place at an accelerated speed.  At the Montessori Children's School, we provide the sense of security and loving care that toddlers need to thrive during this stage of intense learning.

Since toddlers are especially driven towards achieving independence, our teachers provide responsive, individual attention as your child deals with positive experiences as well as frustration.  The Montessori Children's School curriculum takes advantage of the rapid growth of gross and fine motor skills at this stage.  The toddler program focuses on five key developmental areas:

  • Sensory and Perceptual Development
  • Self-Help Skills
  • Language Skills
  • Physical and Motor Skills
  • Social and Emotional Growth

MONTESSORI NURSERY - KINDERGARTEN

Many parents who plan to enroll their 2, 3 or 4 year-old children in Montessori ask: "What about Kindergarten?" The answer comes from an understanding of Montessori's insights into early learning. The sensitive periods for development in a child occur roughly between ages 2 1/2 to 6. It is most important that their learning experience flows uninterrupted during this cycle in order to maximize the child's growth potential.

Our curriculum and materials are designed in harmony with these principles of early childhood education. Therefore, in order for your child to derive the full benefit of the Montessori program, it is essential that he or she attends the Montessori Kindergarten. Why plant a flower if you don't wait for the blossom?

By the time your child graduates from the Montessori Kindergarten, he/she will have been exposed to the following open-ended curriculum:
  • Practical Life
  • Sensorial or Perceptual
  • Math
  • Language/Reading
  • Cultural Subjects
    • Geography
    • History
    • Science
    • Fine Arts
    • Music
